Dr Janet Deane, is a Consultant Associate Professor, Academic Coach and Founder of The Academic Coach Space.

She empowers STEM and Clinical Academics to unlock their potential through tailored coaching, grounded in evidence based growth mindset and positive psychology approaches.

With over 27 years of experience as a research leader, scientist, clinician, educator, coach and mentor, she has earned prestigious awards (NIHR, Versus Arthritis) and her work in clinical biomechanics and digital technology has led to collaborations with global leading research institutions.

A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she has taught and supervised national and international MSc, Pre-doctoral, PhD and Post-doctoral students and led research initiatives across the NHS and HEI sectors. In support of PhD, Professional Doctoral students and their supervisors, she has recently published her first book entitled 'Doctorate: finding your way' with Elsevier Health.

I enjoy helping academics to build balanced and impactful careers through supporting innovation, resilience and purpose-driven leadership. I like meeting academics where they are and partnering with them as they rise. My personal academic journey, from MSc, PhD through to Professorship, informs the bespoke coaching, mentorship and consultancy style that I support; grounded in evidence, curiosity and care.
