How do you rewire the brain and create transformational change?

Great coaching is all about supporting your client to make long term transformational change : it's why coaching isn't about one off sessions or quick fixes and equally why coaching relationships aren't years long - the whole point is that you support your clients to develop their own skills so they can change.

Our ability to build new neural pathways and change the way that we think, feel and act is called Neuroplasticity and this provides the scientific basis for coaching which can be transformational on a structural level.

In the past people believed that when you became an adult your brain had fully developed and reached it's capacity, and that a period would come later on in your life when your brain would gradually begin to shrink and the brain cells would  die.

We now know that throughout our lives, our brains are continuously changing and adapting and reorganising themselves in response to external and internal prompts.

This process called Neuroplasticity means that our brains are constantly undergoing physiological and structural changes forming new connections between Neurons and creating new networks in response to our experiences, actions, thoughts, and emotions.

By harnessing the power of Neuroscience, you can create lasting and foundational change not just for yourself but for future clients. True transformations can take place.

This is the basis of forming new habits : consider who you'll be when you are working on this habit and the identity that you want to embody. Then think about the first step to move towards this new way of behaving: it is that compound effect through consistency which makes the difference:

- Consider who you want to become: what identity would you hold as this person? what would you be thinking / feeling? how would you be acting? what would you believe about yourself?

- Now reflect on the first step you can take to move towards this new identity ; maybe it's an action or maybe it's about starting to think about yourself in a different way

- Continue to take small steps towards the desired outcome

Each time you behave in a way that is congruent with the new identity you're voting for this to become true and you're building new neural connections which support this new version of you.

Why do some people seem to be more successful than others?

In this episode, I explore ways which you can help yourself to become and feel more successful. These tips may not give you financial riches, they might not bag you the CEO role but they will make you feel better.

I believe whoever we are, if we feel better about ourselves, if we feel more confident and if we have higher self-belief - then it’s easier to be more successful.

Here are the highlights:

  • (03:00) Sleep, sleep, sleep
  • (05:24) Get away from your desk
  • (07:15) Take ownership of your time

Think you’d like to become an accredited coach to swing open more doors in your coaching career?

Why study with Optimus? Here’s what others say about working with us (these are from diploma students)

I’m honestly shocked by how useful this training has been. I really didn't think I needed it, but I’ve totally changed my mind on that now. It was exactly what I need and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to maximise their coaching potential.”

I'd say, yes, it's an investment. And you know, everyone has to think long and hard about where you put your time and your money, but the me. If you want something comprehensive, well rounded, you want an experience to be able to grow as a person, to grow as a coach, to be more business minded, and to have a community of people around you and great trainers and mentors. This for me, hands down is the best training out there. And I think just three months down the line, I don't regret it at all, if anything, I'm happy to sort of encourage other people to jump on it and do it, it's really worth it is more than worth it.”

I think if you want to be a coach, work as a coach, be successful as a coach, be confident as a coach, then this is the course for you. It's unlike any training that I've ever done before, it's just great. I never worry about coaching someone now. I feel like I always know where to go. I can respond and I don't go in thinking what I am going to ask them. I can be completely curious and open to what they want to do in the session and it works: it is so much better for them and I just love it. I'm so happy to take the full joy out of it.”
